Low-Income Women in Turkey Trained in Micro-Business

The HasNa Entrepreneurship and Micro-Business Management Training for Low-Income Women took place in Kilis, Turkey from April 10th-15th.  In collaboration with Anatolian Artisans and the GAP administration, 21 low-income women from southeastern Turkey were provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to start new micro-enterprises or improve the management of their home-based informal micro-businesses to raise their incomes. During the training the women learned basic business skills, which included learning how to prepare business plans, how to develop self-confidence in decision making, and growing inter-personal skills vital to business success such as team work, communication, organization, negotiation, and compromise. The program gave these women a chance to not only learn business skills, but it also gave them the opportunity to gain new experiences by traveling outside their villages, which for many of the women was for the first time.
